25 March 2011 marked a very important milestone in the history of the Asian Women’s Association of Paris (AWAP). While the original handful of Asian women who founded the group started meeting in 2006, this was the inaugural luncheon of our newly-named AWAP, initiated by the recently-formed Board of five volunteers.
The women slowly trickled in — all 32 of them! And boy, were we glad that we had this carefully selected restaurant (Goh-Yang) all to our very social selves! Many of the ladies were meeting for the first time — chatting, comparing notes, introducing themselves, exchanging contact details. Laughing, eating, drinking, gossiping, and eating (did I say that already?). New Beginnings.
We were treated to a wide selection of Korean dishes that were so authentic, it certainly made one feel closer to home! Korean marinated beef, vegetable side dishes like soybean sprouts, spinach, kimchi, 4-5 entrées, and the ever-popular Bimbimbap!
Grace Wong Folliet, AWAP Chairwoman, discussed the future direction of this ever-expanding network of Asian women, and the Board members introduced themselves and their corresponding responsibilities. Main Headlines? Expect membership forms and surveys to reach you soon! The more we know about you, the better we can serve you! Expect more occasions to meet up: from monthly luncheons, to coffee mornings, to tours, and even evening functions for the working members! Stay in touch, get involved when you can, attend our functions, bring new friends … and be a part of our Asian family in Paris.
