It is said that 2015 is the “Wood Goat Year”, and a wonderful time to focus on creating and redecorating your home. Those born in the year of the Goat are kind, sweet and generous. They are also said to be the artists of the Chinese Zodiac.
We were excited to have our Chinese New Year dinner hosted once again by the Opera Mandarin this year. Excellent service, friendly staff, yummy traditional Chinese food and wonderful company – no better way to usher in the Year of the Goat. Lobster dumplings, Peking duck, Salt & Pepper Fried Tiger Prawns, Stir Fried Beef with Ginger and Scallions, and Chinese-style steamed Fresh Seabass are some of the scrumptious dishes served that evening. Thank you for coming to our pre-winter break get together. We hope you enjoyed the dinner as much as we did!
Sounds perfect, doesn’t it? A group of our AWAP ladies were treated to a little tasting breakfast on a crisp February morning.
As we cosied up in a corner at Kusmichoff café on Champs-Elysees, we were each served a pot of tea of our choice coupled with pastries from La Patisserie des Rêves. For many of us, this is our first time in Kusmichoff café. We may have passed by the Kusmi Tea boutique downstairs, but most of us were unaware of the cafe upstairs which opens daily from 8am – 11pm. Kusmi Tea aside, there is also a food menu consisting of salads, platters and desserts from La Patisserie des Rêves. We love discovering new eating places!
After enjoying our tea and pastries, cafe manager, Boris brought us a couple of tea samples including Anastasia and BB Detox (perfect for after the indulgent festive season 😙). Heartfelt thanks to Guilaine Azam for planning this special morning tea session!
And finally, to top off a lovely morning, we splurged on some tea purchases at Kusmi Tea boutique downstairs. The special shopping discount certainly came in useful 😉
Oh my! It seems we have been so swept away by the festivities (and then “la reprise”) that we have neglected to update our site! Sorry about that.
For our last AWAP lunch of 2014, we warmed our tummies with delicious wonton soup and noodles at Mirama in Paris 5eme. Undisputedly the best wontons in town – at least we think so. It was great seeing everyone, and sharing our holiday plans.
We were sad to learn that TT, one of our new members will be relocating to Boston. We will miss you.

A delicious meal, accompanied by great company!
That was exactly what we had the pleasure to enjoy! Authentic Thai cuisine (we had Saritha with us to authenticate!) which brought us back to the memories of being in Asia, and the company of a bunch of witty ladies. As we filled Thai Vien 2 in 13eme arrondisement with laughter, our bellies were satisfied with appetizing salads, flavourful noodle soups washed down with exotic desserts. It was a truly great way to spend our lunch hour. We are happy to welcome back a member who had left us for a couple of years, and a couple of ladies who have joined us for lunch while visiting Paris. We hope you enjoyed your lunch as much as we did!
It was also a lunch with mixed emotions as it was Sharon, our Events co-chair’s last AWAP outing. We will miss you dearly, Sharon. Thank you for sharing our laughter, food explorations and/or critics…..and discovering Paris with us. We are sad to say goodbye but can’t wait to hear all about your new adventures in Shanghai…..Bon chance, et bon voyage!
How time flies! Just as we are getting used to our post-summer routines, Toussaint holidays have crept up. Not that we do not appreciate holidays…. 😉
Of course, we could not let slip the opportunity to get together before heading off. Gathering at Kura in 16ème arrondisement, we treated ourselves with gourmet bento sets, sushi platters and beef tataki plates. Pretty to look at, and delectable on our palates! Here are some pictures to make you jealous 😜
Have a great break, everyone! See you in a couple of weeks!
Who needs the gym when we can shop!
Despite the light drizzle in the morning, a bunch of us convened at Trocadero to be whisked away to La Vallee for a VIP shopping experience. And how lucky we were to have snagged some great deals, and to have the weather clear up during lunch! There was no better way to end our day of retail therapy!
Thanks to Carra Sutherland-Olagnon for once again making this shopping trip possible! Needless to say, we will be back!

As we converged back to Paris for la rentrée, easing back to our school and work routines, a bunch of us took a morning off to catch up at the gorgeous mosquée de Paris. Discreetly tucked away in the 5ème arrondisement, this is a tranquil little piece of heaven ideal for our cosy get-together.
And to top it all off, Mother Nature gifted us with some lovely Indian summer sunshine while we sipped mint tea and enjoyed some Moroccan nibbles.
Thank you ladies for coming to our kick-off event this year! As usual, it was great catching up with you, and to welcome a few new faces. See you soon at our next event!
